This past Saturday the varsity boy’s and girl’s cross country teams went to Wickham Park to run in the State Championships. Both teams ran phenomenal races and both earned the titles of Class SS State Champions. This is the 2nd State Championship for the girls in the last 3 years, and the boy’s 4th Championship in a row. Boys scored a low 39 points with all 7 boys coming in the top 25 spots of 173 runners. Girls scored 72 points with all girl coming in the top 40 of 133 runners. We had 3 runners earn individual All-State titles; Andrew finished in 2nd, Daniel Schumann finished in 5th, and Kelsey D=Amico finished in 6th.

HKXC raced their freshmen and sophomores at the Running Rams Invitational. Even with the downpours during the girls race, they were still able to capture a 3rd place team finish, lead by Ava Lindell. The boys raced a very wet and muddy course and were able to oust the other teams for a 1st place team win. Christian Uzwiak also brought home a plaque for his 3rd place finish.

This was the first race in memory of Coach Floyd Parness from North Branford. Both boys and girls teams won the day. The boys now have a 11-0 record and the girls a 10-0 record (Guilford didn't race a girls team). Notable finishes were the entire boys varsity team coming in as a pack from 3rd to 9th, and then 11th, 12th and 14th. Girls also finished all together claiming the 3rd to 7th spots.
