This past weekend, several members of the HK boys and girls track teams competed at the prestigious 49th annual Loucks Games in White Plains, NY. Competing against some of the best athletes on the east coast, this meet consisted of over 300 high schools from New York, New Jersey, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, Connecticut, Washington D.C, Virginia and even Canada. The highlight of the meet was the 4x800 relays run on Saturday morning against the top competition. The boys team of Cameron Garrelts, Ryan Agro, Andrew Meredith and Ben Rakowski not only placed 2nd in their race but crushed their school record set just last week running a time of 8:01.88 which qualifies them for the New Balance National Scholastic Outdoor National Championship Meet held at the end of June in Greensboro, NC. This same foursome had previous qualified for the National Championship meet in the Distance Medley Relay several weeks ago. Not to be outdone, the girls 4x800 relay team of Kelsey D'Amico, Lexie Bouthillier, Lizzie Early and Maddie Brandon also broke the school record running a time of 9:48.68 to place third in the race. The field events were highlighted by Anaka Maher and Carly Moyher in the javelin who placed 4th and 5th overall with throws of 106'4" and 100'9". On Thursday evening the boys and girls distance medley relay teams both ran extremely well and came away with 6th place finishes. The girls team of Kelsey D'Amico, Jackie Stephens, Lexie Bouthillier and Maddie Brandon not only ran 12:34.8 to shatter their previous school record (set several weeks ago) by over 10 seconds but also narrowly missed qualifying for the national championship meet.
